Shrewsbury Muslim Centre
Shrewsbury Muslim Centre has been opened to provide a place of worship for the Muslim community of Shropshire and beyond, and to give Muslims a presence from which to participate in the life of the Shropshire community. May Allah (swt) give us the ability to perform this function to the best of our ability.
Prayer Facilities
The Prayer Centre has disabled access and offers separate prayer and wudu facilities for men and women. While there are currently separate entrances to the prayer rooms, access to the wudu areas is shared. Subject to funding, there are plans to provide separate wudu entrances in the future. The centre is open for the five daily prayers, and Tarawih prayers are held every night during Ramadan. Shared iftar meals are also available during the fasting month.
Tajweed Lessons
Tajweed lessons are available for men upon request from the Imam. Women will be directed to a qualified female teacher by a member of the Prayer Centre Committee.
Committee and Management
The Prayer Centre Committee is appointed annually and is responsible for overseeing the daily running of the centre. Comments, requests, ideas or concerns can be raised with a committee member. A list of current members is displayed on the Prayer Centre notice board.
Madrasa
A weekday madrasa operates for school-aged children and is also available during school holidays. All subscriptions and donations collected through the madrasa go towards supporting the running of the Prayer Centre.
Sisters’ Group
The Prayer Centre hosts a Sisters’ Group that meets regularly to chat, share ideas, and organise educational and social events.
Nikah Ceremonies
We provide facilities for conducting Islamic Nikah (wedding) ceremonies. Insha’Allah, civil marriage registration will also be made available at the Prayer Centre in the future.
Community Engagement & Interfaith
The Prayer Centre welcomes visits and can facilitate meetings or talks with schools, colleges, faith organisations and other community groups. If you or your organisation would like to learn more about Islam or need support in converting to the path of Allah (swt), please contact us. We will respond to your needs as best we can, insha’Allah.
