Inspired by the example of the Prophet Muhammad (peace be upon him), who would often retreat to the hills and mountains in search of peace, reflection and a deeper connection with the signs of Allah (subhanahu wa ta’ala), the SMC Walking Group organises monthly walks designed to nurture physical, mental and spiritual wellbeing. Our walks range from gentle, accessible strolls to more challenging mountain hikes, offering something for everyone regardless of ability or experience. We believe in the power of nature to rejuvenate the soul, clear the mind and strengthen our connection to the Creator, and our group provides a welcoming and supportive space to explore the outdoors with purpose and reflection.
Over the years, we’ve enjoyed a wide variety of routes including the picturesque Shropshire Hills, the full 50-mile Telford Trail (thankfully not all in one go), the scenic Pontesbury Potter, and mountain summits such as Arran Fawddwy and Cader Idris. Whether you’re looking to take your first step on an easy walk or push yourself on a more adventurous route, we’d love to have you join us.
